Gruningen Greenhouse is a Contemporary Homage to its Contents

Even though the choice of materials to construct the Gruningen Botanical Garden Greenhouse is of an undoubted industrial palette, great respect is paid to the natural world in this exquisite project. The pavilion can be found in Switzerland, surrounded in the lush forest landscape that inspired its unique structure.

Steel beams were used to construct sturdy trunks that function as load-bearing peers throughout the building. Upon reaching the height of about 5 meters, the columns spread out into radial metal branches that shape the compelling multifaceted geometry of the Gruningen Botanical Garden Greenhouse. Buehrer Wuest Architekten's design showcases expansive glass walls that let the sunlight douse the subtropical plants kept inside. This pavilion is a beautiful example of how a building can unite interior and exterior.
