Morbid Meat Markets

Emile Barret and Laurent Ponce Send a Message With Their Latest Installation

Artists Emile Barret and Laurent Ponce have taken the idea of a "meat market" to a whole new and gruesome level within this featured work. In this new series called Marketplace, the two have used humans in place of traditional market animals and positioned them to resemble meat on sale.  The human "meat" is on display in market cases as well as in butchery sinks and on tables.

The models' positions along with the harsh-lit surroundings give the entire series an eerie feel. If art is to raise questions in the viewer's mind, this installation certainly does the job right. Check out this creepy yet thought-provoking spread by Artists Emile Barret and Laurent Ponce in the featured gallery and decide on its message for yourselves.
