These gourmet beer jellies from 'Malty and Hoppy Delicacy' make for a fun remix on the classic breakfast spread.
Malty and Hoppy Delicacy founder Francoise Briet was inspired to create these beer-infused spreads after she tasted a barrel-aged brew from Bellwoods Brewery. According to Briet, "I found the beer had a nose like wine in France, I’m from Beaune, in Burgundy – it brought me back there." From this experience she decided to create a jelly that was low in sugar and made from 75% beer.
She reached out to local Toronto breweries to collaborate on this innovative new product. The lighter jellies tend to taste similar to a sweet wine jelly, while the darker gourmet beer jellies have more of a hoppy, umami flavor.
