Room 11 Designs the Glass House in Koonya Overlooking the Bay

Local architectural practice Room 11 creates the Glass House which is within the rural area of Koonya, overlooking views of Norfolk Bay and lush green surroundings of the area. Thomas Bailey works closely with associate director Kate Phillips to create the concrete building whilst keeping the surroundings in mind.

The house measures about 25 meters in length and the entrance is complete with a cantilever at the end of it. The front door opens up to see a set of stairs, which brings visitors up to the single level of a corridor that sees a bright window view at the end. Bailey notes, "Our client, like us, admires the work of Donald Judd (the eminent American sculptor), in particular the way he works with the landscape."
