Giles Clarke wasn’t afraid to ruffle some feathers, and that is why he captured a series that documents horrible living conditions for inmates in El Salvador.
Living in these prisons are members of two of the worst gangs in the country. There is a constant debate on how prisoners are treated, and there are many people who feel that should be given the short end of stick. However, it is difficult to look at these pictures and realize that, morality aside, these are other humans being forced to live like this.
The prison cell is basically a cage, and these cages are packed full of people. It looks as though inmates are living on top of each other. The area looks filthy, and it doesn’t appear that there is even a bathroom available.
