The homeowners wanted to incorporate their love of modern art and entertaining guests whilst under instructions to reserve the heritage of their revamped 1960's bungalow, so Gestion René Desjardins came up with this genius concept.
The 'Iron Lace Project' resulted in this intricate, perforated steel masterpiece. The staircase runs through the whole house, which is split into three open plan areas for the Canadian couple and their three teenage children.
What's interesting about the project is the perforations make for spectacular light patterns, once sunlight streams into the house in the mornings. It's also an amazing touch that the designers decided to carry the pattern through the whole house. Using the design in connecting spots like the landing allows the design to flow.
