Prefabricated Flood-Resistant Houses

Knox Bhavan Developed This Functional Contemporary Home

With rising sea levels, flood-resistant houses are key residential infrastructure—especially for communities that live nearby bodies of water. Many architects emphasize the necessity of such designs and most recently, London studio Knox Bhavan contributed to this category of residencies with a single-story flood-resistant house that goes by the name of 'March House.' Situated on the bank of the River Thames in Buckinghamshire, the structure is raised on steel stilts.

Knox Bhavan maintains that the flood-resistant house design is "future-proof" for at least 100 years, even with the "site's predicted increased flood risk." The architectural practice worked alongside modular manufacturer BlokBuilt and engineer Price & Myers to develop a functional and secure residential space. The building is also prefabricated.
