Plant-Based Sushi Substitutes

Ocean Hugger Foods is Developing Veggie-Based Fish Alternatives

There are now countless brands that are developing completely meatless replacements for white and red meat, but few are as focused on providing sustainable, ethical fish alternatives as Ocean Hugger Foods. The company previously introduced an innovative tomato-based tuna substitute called 'Ahimi' that can now be found through Whole Foods, as well as restaurants and cafeterias.

As far as what's next for the company, it is currently developing other fish alternatives, including an eggplant-based alternative to eel and a carrot-based salmon substitute.

Ocean Hugger Foods; CEO David Benzaquen notes that "our ingredients are super simple, and people are moving toward more vegetables on the plate." As well as helping to put veggies front and center on consumers' plates, these innovative fish alternatives also spotlight clean, affordable substitutes.
