When you break it down, the piece of furniture comprises the typical four legs and a flat seat; however, the execution of this item is quite different to most.
Instead of cutting posts to serve as the supportive structure of this petite perch, the Koichi Futatsumata Studio cut each of the wooden components to have two flat edges and one arched one. To assemble the backless chair, the four buttresses were fixed together in a pinwheel arrangement, attaching to the round-cornered square that serves as a comfy seat. The resultant form of this finned stool seems to resemble the beak of a Toco Toucan, giving the lovely teal blue object its name.
