Disintegrating Charcoal Installations

The Fiction and the Fabricated Image Exhibit is Abstract

The Fiction and the Fabricated Image art installation looks as though it revolves around sculptures that have been frozen in time in the midst of disintegrating into thin air. When imploding or exploding, the creations are mesmerizing in their scope and design. Yet they may also appear slightly familiar.

That is because they are the latest iterations of South Korean artist Seon Ghi Bahk's charcoal sculptures. But in place of definitive forms including stairs, planters and even raindrops, the Fiction and the Fabricated Image exhibit is made up of sculptures that are more abstract. Black charcoal pieces have been suspended from the ceiling using transparent cords. Whether coming together as columns or more complex shapes, the sculptures are visuall striking.
