While the beautiful flowers that grace the front lawn of Somerset House in London appear extremely life-like, they are actually part of The Fernando Casasempere ‘Out of Sync’ installation.
Composed of over 10,000 multicolored clay daffodils, the installation is nestled on the lush grass of the home of London’s Fashion Week and signals the beginning of spring.
The Chilean-born, London-based artist constructs most of his pieces from clay and brought 12 tons of the material with him when he moved from Chile.
The Fernando Casasempere ‘Out of Sync’ installation is representative of the fragility of the seasons and of nature in an environmentally tumultuous time. The artist frequently features environmental themes in his work.
The floral arrangement will remain in London until April 27 before heading to Santiaga, Chile. It will then finally find a permanent home in the northern desert in Chile.
