Using long chains of steel balls, artists at the Ball-Nogues Studio created the Euphony sculpture. Suspended from the ceiling, Euphony stretches 120 feet in order to give people from every floor of the building a different view of the sculpture. The installation was created for the Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Using 28 miles of chain, the artists created layers of metal in order to create a vibrant multi-color effect. Since the chain is composed of 1,141 steel balls, creating the installation was no easy feat. The total weight of the installation is 3,500 pounds.
The sculpture was designed to look different depending on where you're standing. From one side, Euphony can look like a 2D spiral. From another, it becomes a 3D vortex of color and energy.
