Mountain Range Housing

EFFEKT has Proposed a Housing Scheme Based on the Shapes of Mountains

Anyone who lives in a walk-up apartment certainly knows the feeling of climbing a mountain after a long day of work, but the new housing scheme proposed by Danish architecture studio EFFEKT is meant to evoke mountainous regions more directly. The design consists of segmented apartment buildings with irregularly staggered roofs that make them look like the snowy peaks of a mountain range.

This artificial, inhabitable mountain range will be built in the Petrzalka borough of Bratislava, Slovakia. Contrary to its inspiration, the complex is slated to be built near farmland that surrounds the Donau river -- in other words, it will be the only significantly tall sight in an otherwise flat area. Such a status only adds to the effect EFFEKT is intent on achieving, since the occupants of the apartments will get stunning mountaintop views of the surrounding town.
