Rugged Boutique Hostels

The Drift San Jose Hotel Offers Travelers a Taste of Mexican Culture

The Drift San Jose Hotel in San José del Cabo is part hostel, part boutique budget hotel.

These affordable accommodations were designed to offer travelers an authentic cultural experience. With on-site food carts, a Mezcal bar and a local artisan shop, the Drift San Jose Hotel is a great option for those who don't want to go to an all-inclusive resort or expensive luxury resort.

The minimalist design of the hotel features concrete floors, bed platforms and a plunge pool. Steel frames line the glass doors and all of the walls are painted stark white. The result is a calm, industrial, yet rugged-looking space that feels hip, yet understated. According to the owner, Stu Wadding, the decor was "Inspired by modern Baja ranch life, guest rooms are utilitarian with rustic poured concrete, and custom handmade steel finishes."

Twice a week, Mexican food carts are hired to serve snacks for locals and guests while the indoor Cowboy Grill prepares fresh meals and offers cooking classes.
