The Dear Ginza Building Sticks Out Despite its Side Street Setting

It were to front on a major street, the Dear Ginza Building could not go unnoticed if you were to pass in front of it; however, this tall and slender structure is actually situated on a smaller city road. Because of its hidden position, the folks at the Amano Design Office endeavored to bring pedestrian attention to this edifice, so an eye-catching facade was necessary.

You cannot see the glass curtain wall windows that run up the height of the building because they're covered by an aluminum skin. The architectural mask is made up of triangular pieces of punched metal that come together to make a crumpled geoform surface. For increased textural intrigue, the small circular perforations that speckle the Dear Ginza Building have been left out in places to suggest the natural shapes of flower petals.
