Dazzling Zebra-Print Installations

The Dazzle Room Installation is Inspired By Wartime Camouflage

Dazzle Room is a fittingly named art installation because, when you look closely at it, your eyeballs get truly dazzled and blinded by the shock of black and white patterns that zip and spiral this way and that, creating a visual spectacle that is well and truly beyond compare.

Put together by the noted Japanese artist Shigeki Matsuyama, Dazzle Room was inspired by a particular kind of camouflage that was used during the First World War. The so-called 'dazzle camouflage' or 'razzle dazzle' was widely used during the war, but is being repurposed by Matsuyama for a much nicer purpose -- art. The Dazzle Room installation is so comprehensive that the patterns don't just cover the room but even cover a lonesome woman and her smartphone.

Ultimately, Dazzle Room is a visually stunning spectacle that represents a triumph of modern visual art.
