Das Wilde Denken Invites Artists to Create Objects Out of Scraps

Depot Basel, a temporary space for contemporary design based in Basel, Switzerland, put together a special weekend-long workshop called Das Wilde Denken (The Savage Mind). The workshop involved various artists, designers and more to participate in some free-form upcycling. The idea stemmed from all of the waste collected in creative studios, from scraps to prototypes.

Instead of throwing it all out or making their own line, Das Wilde Denken takes a more quirky and eccentric route. As Fast Co. Design describes, it was an "extended exercise in maker improv--like a super-cool jam sesh amongst tactilely inclined friends with physical, rather than aural, results." From crafty jewelry to complex ashtrays and other avant-garde objects, some of the items created might boggle the mind, but others will stimulate likeminded creativity and imagination.
