Design student Dan Hinde submitted this fine floral take on scotch whisky to the annual D&AD design awards. Students were challenged to create a fictional scotch company and a complementary packaging design for the faux brand. Hinde decided on the name Floral & Fauna to indicate the organic properties of the premium spirit.
To give the scotch a fresh-from-mother-nature look, Dan Hinde chose a cork-topped container (reminiscent of a medicine bottle from the late 19th century) adorned with a simple floral design. The packaging's parred-down, monochrome palette saves it from being too loud or girly, which is important as scotch drinkers are typically male; however, the addition of a flower-dominated design could very well convert more females to the heady flavor of scotch whisky.
Fresh, simple and different, the Floral & Fauna packaging is a beautifully unexpected container for traditional "manly" scotch.
