The Dalarna Media Library by ADEPT is located in the heart of Falun, a small town in central Sweden. After competing in a 2010 design competition, Copenhagen-based studios ADEPT, Sou Fujimoto Architects and Rambøll were chosen to realize the structure's concept.
Four years later, the building has been realized as an extension to a local university and has been a hit among students with a love for reading. The modest structure embodies modern design ideals and features a sleek interior concept that is enhanced with wrapped shelving units.
The Dalarna Media Library's wrap-around bookshelves shield its inhabitants from the sun's rays and offset the structure's "wide wooden stairs, generous terraces and cozy reading spaces." The building also features skylights that are penetrated with natural light, creating a pleasant atmosphere for readers.
