Curved Sustainable Housing

This Home in Brazil Was Made with a Self-Supporting Curved Roof Shell

This vacation home in Brazil features a self-supporting curved roof that is hidden deep in the forest. The aim of the project was to create a house away from the city where professionals could visit and reconnect with nature. The home's simple construction is inspired by traditional Brazilian indigenous housing.

In designing the house, its architects wanted to create as little impact to the environment as possible, and opted for this curved roof made from carbon-steel, aluminum and zinc. The roof is connected to the the home's walls and can be easily dismantled and rebuilt in different locations.

This house can comfortably host a family of four, with modular timber-sourced rooms built within it. The house is situated near a natural park, steps away from waterfalls and a charming colonial city.
