Culture of Bathe-ing, a first-of-its-kind New York City sauna festival sponsored by Therme Group, recently opened to the public, transforming Domino Park on the Williamsburg waterfront into a 15-sauna open-air bathing village. As part of the programming, which runs until the first of March, guests can participate in sessions that not only provide a good chance to sweat but also incorporate breathwork, movement and aromatherapy, alongside sound baths, and immersive sensory journeys. Naturally, a sense of community is central to the experience, as togetherness and connection are also impactful components of longevity.
The NYC bathing village grounds are free and open to the public, with ticketed sauna sessions available for between $60 to $95. To make the wellness experience more accessible to all in the city, over 1,000 complimentary tickets have been released.

2. Communal Bathing Resurgence - A renewed cultural embrace of shared bathing and ritualized sweating is fostering social cohesion while reframing hygiene practices as collective, experiential services.
3. Sensory Enhanced Wellness Experiences - Combining breathwork, aromatherapy, sound baths and immersive stimuli is expanding the definition of therapeutic offerings beyond single-modality treatments.
Industry Implications
1. Hospitality and Tourism - Pop-up sauna festivals create novel destination experiences that can shift revenue models toward short-term, high-engagement events integrated with local tourism calendars.
2. Real Estate and Waterfront Development - Activating underused public waterfronts with temporary wellness villages demonstrates a model for placemaking that increases foot traffic and perceived neighborhood value.
3. Health and Wellness Technology - Sensor-driven climate controls, booking platforms and biofeedback integrations tailored to sauna sessions enable personalized, data-informed wellness offerings.
