Reebok Launches AR App as Part of 'Courting Greatness' Campaign

As part of its "Courting Greatness' social campaign, sportswear retailer Reebok has launched an augmented reality tool that allows users to superimpose playable basketball courts onto their environments. The app targets younger generations who might lack access to official basketball spaces.

All that is required of users is that they scan the area they wish to play from a distance of 10 to 20 feet and they will be delivered an AR overlay of the space, which will present regulation-sized basketball dimensions. They can then leave the app running, or use chalk to mark appropriate boundaries including free throw and three-point lines.

Though it belongs to a broader social campaign, Reebok's new court-building tool also coincides with the brand's release of its new 'Iverson Four' sneaker, highlighting the innovative – and socially positive – ways AR can be utilized for better branding in the retail space.
