Artistic Cork Chairs

The Korkart Furniture Genius of Germany's Gabriel Wiese

German artist Gabriel Wiese discovered the potential of cork in furniture and object construction after he began studying to be a cabinetmaker. Design and construction technique experiments led him to a number of projects. He covered existing furniture with cork, created new forms using steel infrastructures and cork veneers, and made works of nothing but cork. His goal has been in "changing the simple stopper into an object of art."

Carpets, chairs pictures, tables, chessboards, and clothes are among the many objects that Wiese has made from recycled cork bottle stoppers.
