In 'Concrete Living,' photographer Nick Frank travels to Hongkong and Kowloon in order to capture the concrete jungles that people reside in. As he closes up on the apartment buildings, it is incredible to see such compact living spaces in a series.
The photographs are all very linear as the windows and walls line up with one another. Nick Frank keeps the photos in square or rectangular shapes in order to enhance the fact that these homes are so condensed. The photos become overwhelming to look at as we imagine the number of people that live in a single building.
Although we see clothing and different curtains that add to the individuality of each apartment complex, the windows continue to look the same as we focus on the building as a whole. 'Concrete Living' shows the way that human beings are forced to live in such overpopulated areas of the world as the architecture reflects this.
