Architecture studio Community Design Agency and local Sanjaynagar residents worked together to deliver eight three-story brick buildings that promise to provide housing for individuals who live "in slum conditions in the city of Ahmednagar, India." It is estimated that approximately 298 families will be able to move into the new housing buildings.
Each unit measures 28 square meters. The Community Design Agency wanted to encourage interaction between residents and, as a result, inserted a series of courtyards. As for materials, the architecture studio used bricks that were made locally out of fly ash, crushed sand, and cement. So far, about 33 families have moved into the vibrant community housing as part of the pilot project.
