Hued Blocky Mid-Century Houses

This Colorful Mid-Century Home Was Designed by Emil Tessin in 1964

Talent strategy executive Karen Valentine and commercial photographer Bob Coscarelli invest in a prefabricated and colorful mid-century home that was erected in the 1960s by MIT graduate Emil Tessin. Situated in northern Indiana, the three-bedroom Frost House underwent an extensive renovation process that focused on preserving motifs from the bygone era. Referring to it as a "time capsule," Karen Valentine and Bob Coscarelli bought the house on a whim, without even surveying the premises physically. Once they actually interacted with the colorful mid-century home, the new owners felt the vast design potential within the retro layout and decor.

The Frost House is a prime example of how renovation with a focus on preservation can not only be cost-effective and sustainable, but can also harbor something nostalgic, unique and romantic that is valued by people.
