Colored Glass Pavilions

Studio Other Spaces Creates a Breathtaking Pavilion in California

A breathtaking colored glass pavilion was erected by Studio Other Spaces, which is formed by celebrated installation artist Olafur Eliasson and renowned architect Sebastian Behmann. The structure takes on a conical form and is located in The Donum Estate, a winery in the Sonoma Valley, California.

The Berlin-based studio utilized 832 panels of colored glass to bring its vision to life. The piece features 24 different shades and "a variation of transparencies." The selected nuances were tied to the surrounding landscape. Olafur Eliasson and Sebastian Behmann also drew inspiration from the climate, more specifically "the history of circular calendars." The colored glass pavilion depicts "yearly averages of the four meteorological parameters at the estate – solar radiance, wind intensity, temperature, and humidity."

Studio Other Spaces' colored glass pavilion is officially named the Vertical Panorama Pavilion
