In terms of configuration, the house is comprised of two connected volumes. One volume is comfortably settled into the mountainous topography, while the other is opened out towards the view. Inside the house, the rafters expose a height discrepancy between the two volumes, a discordance that allowed the architects to add clerestory windows. This decision helps maximize natural light of the home.
Further explaining their vision, the architects note that the concept of contradiction expressed in the home, "is not only a reminder of the isolation and mystery of its location but also of the rarity of being able to live amongst the drama of the ever-changing atmospheric conditions in this part of the world."
