Chr Tomters Veg Expands a Red-Painted Family Home in Raelingen, Norway

Chr Tomters Veg is an extension of a red-painted family home in Raelingen, Norway, through two new volumes designed by architecture studio Rever & Drage. The project adds one extension to the north and another to the south of the existing house, forming three pitched red structures aligned along a long, sloping site between two roads. The new volumes are linked to the original dwelling by green intermediary spaces, including an outdoor courtyard and an indoor winter garden, which bring light and planting into the plan.

The extensions use a palette of red-toned materials that includes painted timber cladding, brick, tiles, and steel, with latticework facades designed to support climbing plants. The northern extension contains a garage, a self-contained apartment, and a timber-lined study beneath a pitched roof. The southern extension is accessed through the winter garden and includes living spaces, bedrooms, and service rooms. Interior materials include oak, ash, brick, and exposed concrete, while the original house layout and key features were largely retained.
