Sonos Studio's newest exhibition from artist Luke Fischbeck entitled the 'Center of Attention,' is an interactive experience geared toward celebrating the bonding properties of listening.
It is composed of 100 ropes that are tethered to a large pegboard on the ceiling which emit sound when touched. Each string has a small, colored handle at its end and has several wires woven throughout that act as transmitters to carry the noise from a sound system to the strings.
Each dangling component sends a signal into the body of the person who grasps on to it and the signal changes dependent on how many people touch the strings at the same time and how they also interact with other people holding the strings.
The intention is to create a community environment where new sounds and noises can be created through the interacting of those who are also sharing the experience.
