The entire building is painted gray, a color mandated by the neighborhood. Key Operation decided to give the house a small outward display of color by painting the garage bright pink, revealing a flash of color to the outside world every time the garage door is raised. The owners of the Cat House also chose not to have a garden in their home, which allowed the architects to move the house back a few feet, thus giving the owners an unheard of space between their garage and street.
