Mexican architecture firm Estudio Cristina Grappin uses local stone as the main material when creating the Casa Quinto Sol, a Mexican beach house. THe large stone home is open with calm coastal breezes coming through the courtyard and the ocean. The space brings attention to the site of the restaurant as it features two forms in a pavilion structure to integrate the site's slope to overlook the ocean and Cerro del Mono.
Cristina Grappin explains, "Despite having an extensive program, each space in the house retains a distinctly human scale, fostering a sense of warmth and intimacy that invites contemplation of the surroundings. Most furnishings feature Mexican and Latin American designers as well as artisans. By thoughtfully integrating interior design, landscaping, and the architecture of the pavilions, we crafted a cohesive narrative that contributes to the project's character."
