Zaha Hadid Architects reinvented its 2013 blue plastic chair by using a single carbon fiber sheet.
With this, the design is sleek and futuristic and requires little material other than the carbon fiber sheet that's said to be originally "developed by Formula One engineers for cars." The evolved design of the new Kuki chair is similar in shape to its predecessor, however it does away with its electric blue color, hypnotic swirling patterns and cut-out design. The chair was reinvented in order for Zaha Hadid Architects to experiment with a new material and test its functionality -- with carbon fiber being seen increasingly in more products as designers realize its versatility. As the evolution of the Kuki chair shows, carbon fiber is a capable resource that offers a more modern edge to products.
