The burning city fireplace screens are distinct covers by Alessio Baschera, Matteo Mocchi and Fabio Brigolin from BBMDS. The idea for this project was sparked by the Great Fires of 1666 and 64 AD. They were designed after two of the world's most well-known cities: Rome and London. The cities have been represented in a silhouetted design made from metal sheets.
The buildings in the city of Rome include the Colosseum and St. Peter's Basilica. In London, the buildings shown are the Tower Bridge, the Gherkin, St. Paul's Cathedral and the Palace of Westminster. The windows and spaces between each building allows for the fire to pass through making the buildings appear to be on fire. These metal sheets encircle the fire, and are an imaginative twist to a typically boring fireplace screen.
