BOOM TOWN's Eric Joseph Tremblay designed the 'Chalet Lac Gate,' an idyllic cottage located near the Gate Lake in Harrinton, Quebec.
The shore-line site features a slight slope, which the architect had to accommodate for. The roof line, for instance, follows the natural inclination of the site in an attempt to maximize the home's overall volume. The roof also works to integrate the rest of the structure with its natural surroundings. The superior-level entrance is located under a roof-protected atrium.
The home's exterior is clad in cedar, stone and other site-specific materials. The roofs, in particular, feature a zinc finish steel, and are angled toward the facade in order to offer protection from the elements.
