The Bio-Bus is operated by the Bath Bus Company and made its first test run this month. The poop-powered vehicle is set to make trips between Bristol Airport and Bath City Center. The Bio-Bus runs off of Bristol's sewage treatment, generating a bio-methane gas to power the vehicle. The 40 seat bus can travel up to 186 miles on a single tank of gas.
A single person's annual food and sewage waste would propel the Bio-Bus for 37 miles. Compared up to diesel vehicles, Bio-Bus emits 30% less carbon dioxide into the air. Currently there are no reports on the scent of the emission, however, it should be noted that impurities are added to the bio-methane gas to produce a virtually odor free scent.
