Iris van Herpen's Bespoke Shoes Blend Natural & Man-Made Forms

With her newest bespoke shoe designs, Iris van Herpen continues to show that 3D printing will become more than just a novelty for the fashion industry. Iris van Herpen is one of the most talented designers when it comes to the creation of 3D-printed fashion and footwear. Her work often features juxtaposing elements, such as high-tech components and handicraft details, or man-made and natural elements. The latter is especially evident in her latest 'Hacking Infinity' collaboration with 3D Systems.

The crystal formations on the back of her 3D-printed shoes were created with an Accura Clearvue (SLA) material, chosen for its translucency and ability to replicate fine details. Inspired by the accessories in this collection, 3D Systems has plans to create a line of accessories that will be available through Cubify for all to print.
