The Bent-Wood Chair Stabilizes Under the Weight of a Large Rock

You won't see any legs beneath the Bent-Wood Chair, yet it appears to successfully keep from toppling back. A lengthy strip of molded timber forms the backrest and the seat of the contemporary piece of furniture, and this continues down to a rather atypical support structure.

Where the panel connected to the edge of the perch might usually curve down and underneath it, this one extends in front and outwards. On its own, the Bent-Wood Chair would not stand erect, so it would certainly not hold the weight of a sitter.

To counterbalance this off-centered object, designer Byung Hoon Choi introduced a single heavy rock. The resultant 'stone chair' can support well over 100 pounds, offering visual harmony and intrigue.
