Multi-Billion Dollar Airport

Beijing's Luxury Terminal

In February of next year, the world's largest luxury airport will open in Beijing, arriving in time to accommodate the international tourists arriving for the Summer 2008 Olympic Games. One single building, Terminal 3, will be bigger than all five of London's Heathrow Airport terminals combined.

"The new building will feature south-east orientated skylights, which maximize heat gain from the early morning sun, and an integrated environment-control system that minimizes energy consumption and carbon emissions," according to Born Rich. "The whole thing has been designed in a short span of four years. The terminal building alone cost $2.8 billion, and $4.6 billion was spent on all the related infrastructure."

The gigantic building will also be the most high tech airport building in the world. The multi-million dollar project will cover 245 acres, enough space to accommodate 43 million passengers. It will be decorated with traditional Chinese art and celebrate the welcome visitors to the nation's cultural traditions.
