Artsy House Renovation Projects

In Situ Studio Overhauls an Old Building in Critical Condition

Architecture firm In Situ Studio produces an artsy house with hints of modernism from a "dwelling that had fallen into shambles." The original structure was built in the 1920s in a classic American Foursquare style. With a largely efficient layout already established, In Situ Studio began to tackle the "rotting trim and crumbling brick mortar" to revamp and slightly enlarge the residence.

The boxy home is located in North Carolina and due to the status of the building, In Situ Studio had to abide by restrictions that were imposed by the Raleigh Historic District Commission. Taking into consideration these limitations, the wishes of the homeowners and the condition of the building, In Situ Studio produces a highly artsy house that embraces a creativity-inspired interior and an open space concept for communal living.
