Johnny Appleseed is known as an American pioneer who introduced apple trees across the United States. As part of a This project is the result of a 23-year project to preserve and share Johnny Appleseed's legacy, arborist Jeffrey Meyer and his son Scott Meyer of Congaree and Penn Farm discovered and saved the last verified apple tree planted by Appleseed.
Although there was news of a verified apple tree planted by Appleseed alive and well in Nova, Ohio, it was determined it would not likely produce fruit due to its age. To carry on Appleseed's legacy and the fruit of the iconic apple tree, Meyer grafted branches from the tree other apple trees. As a result, Congaree and Penn Farm is launching the first-ever Johnny Appleseed Authentic apple jelly.
