Annesso Rosso is a concrete and steel annex designed by Mecozzi Verdini to expand a 1960s villa near Loretello. The new structure replaces former agricultural outbuildings and opens the property toward the surrounding hills. Large glazed openings frame long views, and a roof bridge connects the annex to the main house while functioning as an elevated terrace. Inside, the annex contains an open plan layout where living, dining, and kitchen areas share one continuous volume that aligns with the outdoor spaces and the slope of the terrain.
The landscape is organised into zones that include wild hillside, a planted garden, and cultivated plots. These areas create a graded transition between the rural surroundings and the updated architecture. The annex positions the villa more clearly within the landscape by directing views outward and establishing a stronger relationship between the built form and the natural terrain. The project modernises the home without disrupting its countryside character.
