Waitrose rolled out SOLUM’s Newton Pro electronic shelf labels to more than 200 stores as part of a nationwide digital transformation launched after the companies announced their partnership in December 2025. The displays replace traditional paper shelf-edge labels with centrally managed digital panels designed for fresh, ambient and specialist food categories.
Installations were planned around individual store requirements and completed while locations remained operational. The system enables Waitrose to update pricing and product information quickly and consistently from a central platform, reducing manual label changes and allowing Partners to spend more time assisting customers. SOLUM’s Newton Pro was selected for its premium design, reliability and suitability for food retail environments.
For Waitrose, the rollout strengthens connected-store infrastructure while preserving the presentation expected from a premium grocer. The expansion reflects growing retailer adoption of electronic shelf labels to improve pricing accuracy, operational agility and in-store efficiency.
