Café William is supporting the future of coffee in a sustainable way by investing in the first zero-emission sailing cargo ship to transport its coffee beans from South America to its roasting plant in Sherbrooke. "When it goes into operation in 2023, it will be the world's largest active, clean ocean freight vessel," says Danielle Doggett, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SAILCARGO.
Since coffee trees only grow in certain climates, coffee beans are transported at great lengths around the world. With this transport project, Café William is committed to reducing its carbon footprint thanks to a wind-powered sailing cargo ship. Ultimately, the Quebec roaster and producer of organic and fair trade coffees aims to rethink the future of coffee with a fully zero-emission coffee.
