Autonomous Airport Snowplows

Yeti Snow Technology Makes Self-Driving Snowplows to Improve Travel

Autonomous technology has been applied to vehicles with a range of shapes, sizes and functions, and Yeti Snow Technology is now exploring its potential for snowplows.

Anyone who has ever shovelled a driveway manually during heavy snowfall will know the frustration of having to repeat the job every few hours in order to maintain a clear path. These 20-meter long and nearly six-meter wide autonomous machines need only about an hour to clear 350,000 square meters, and when multiple machines work alongside one another, their individual efficiency is maximized to clear potentially troublesome piles of snow.

The company recently tested its autonomous snowplow at an airport in Norway, an innovation that will hopefully help to prevent long delays and free up more time for airport operators.
