French electronics company Withings has announced that its highly anticipated 'ScanWatch' has just received FDA approval and will now be launching in Europe and Australia. The innovative watch comes equipped with electrocardiograms (ECG) and respiratory monitoring features, making it the first wearable capable of detecting respiratory disorders.
According to the company, the 'ScanWatch' utilizes a proprietary algorithm in combination with ECG and SpO2 sensors to measure blood oxygen levels, movement, heart rate, and respiratory rate in order to detect "nighttime breathing disturbances." If detected, certain disturbances can point to more serious respiratory disorders and issues.
All of these sophisticated health-focused features reside within a sleek, minimalist watch design that features a stainless steel case, sapphire glass, and a circular digital display. In addition, the watch can be used to track GPS, measure VO2 Max, and track a wide range of activities.
