Oddly Flavored Whale Beers

Icelandic Beer Brewery Steðji is Selling Beer Made of Dead Whales

Icelandic brewery Steðji are making Whale Beer. When I say whale beer, I don't mean this is some radical beer marketing ploy; I mean they are actually making beer out of dead whales.

You won't be getting ground up whale chunks in your beer, so there's no need to worry about that, but the by-product of whale meal is an oil which constitutes a fair amount of the whale beer. I definitely had to do a double take when I heard this, but it's being marketed as especially healthy.

The whales are able to be used in this way because of laws in Iceland (amongst certain other countries) that allow that sort of thing. The whale beers do have a shortened shelf life and will be available throughout February to celebrate specific Icelandic traditions
