This Triolin Brings a Whole New Meaning to the Term Symphony

Even while as part of an orchestra, playing an instrument is usually something people do on their own, but Alex Sobolev's custom made weird instrument the "Triolin" is looking to push past music's solitary boundaries and turn it into a truly interactive experience.

Crafted out of three violins, the Triolin joins these string instruments together at their bases, so that musicians can not only play their violins in the same fashion, but also get a good look at each other too.

Sobolev says that he made the Triolin because this it "encourages its players to move beyond visual and aural communication by creating a space that requires direct physical interaction." The beauty of this weird instrument is that it gives you the chance to collectively compose music on on something that looks like a kaleidoscopic image. Now that's something you don't see everyday.
