Wecyclers is a social enterprise based in Lagos, Nigeria that attempts to tackle the waste problem there. According to Wecyclers, the government collects 40% of the municipal garbage, making it that waste builds and builds. What is more, the recycling companies don't have the access to what they need to perform recycling. In order to address this, Wecyclers has created an incentive-based recycling program that uses text messaging through a point system. Essentially, the initiative allows individuals to recycle while at the same time accruing points that go toward goods such as food, mobile minutes and other household products.
