Archekta and Ark-Shelter Design the Warm Nest Cancer Shelter

Slovakian studio Archekta works in collaboration with Belgian design studio Ark-Shelter to design the Warm Nest building. The project was informed by a network of cancer care centers that is operated by Maggie's.

The studio talks about the inspiration and space, stating that "The client, AZ Zeno Hospital, was in touch with Maggie's and was inspired by Maggie's care philosophy. We see] this project as a snapshot in the long list of initiatives to support truly restorative design, one piece to contribute to the honorable path of creating healthy and healing environments." Warm Nest has two internal courtyards and also features Ark-Shelter's own system of modular and prefabricated units that measure four by six meters.
